Magistrat der Stadt Hanau

Jess Jochimsen tackles the rampant numbing of minds and hearts with his very own blend of clever political satire, absolutely gorgeous songs, and hilariously funny slides. “Have we all lost our minds?”—that’s probably the question that comes to mind when considering the current state of affairs. From Musk to Merz, we’re witnessing the return of the wounded men, and while we can watch in real time as autocrats in the West and East shred democracy, here at home the smallest grand coalition of all time is throwing a ’90s party on credit. Was it really smart to elect someone as chancellor who proves almost daily that he’s not up to the task? And then there’s capitalism, climate change, and bachelor parties to deal with as well...

But since despair isn’t the answer, the multi-award-winning author and cabaret artist slings his accordion over his shoulder, packs plenty of reason, solidarity, and serenity, and prescribes optimism for himself. After all: Who or what exactly are these good spirits that are abandoning us? And why do they all have to leave at once? In his search for answers, Jochimsen roams through suburbs and fairgrounds, pays homage to politeness and other forgotten virtues, and promises an exhilarating evening in defiance of the current absurdities. Leaning back. Funny. And hopelessly optimistic. An evening without railings. Let’s celebrate as if there were a tomorrow!
