Kulturamt Langen

With “Musik liegt in der Luft,” the audience can look forward to a concert evening that is as lively as it is multifaceted, bringing the magic of past decades to life. The spotlight is on the charismatic singer and trumpeter Antje Rietz, who, together with a top-notch ensemble, breathes new life into the musical world of the unforgettable Caterina Valente. She is accompanied by Ferdinand von Seebach on piano, Jo Gehlmann on guitar, Moe Jaksch on bass and guitar, and Stephan Genze on drums. These musicians guide the audience through a multifaceted program with stylistic mastery and palpable enthusiasm.

What at first glance appears to be a charming tribute to the great pop hits of the 1950s quickly unfolds into a musical journey of remarkable diversity. Elegant jazz blends with bossa nova, French chanson meets lively swing, and time and again, those melodies that have shaped generations shine through: “Ganz Paris träumt von der Liebe,” “One Note Samba,” “Quando, quando, quando,” and “Malagueña.” This is not merely about nostalgic memories, but about the rediscovery of an artist who was far more than just a pop star. Caterina Valente emerges here as a multifaceted musician, a cosmopolitan, and an exceptional talent whose artistic range continues to fascinate to this day. “Music Is in the Air” is far more than a concert. It is an atmospheric experience full of rhythm, charm, and musical passion that takes its audience on a journey through wanderlust, joie de vivre, and the fascination of timeless melodies.
