A Night of Fado – Live Music at the Schmiere – 2-for-1 Tickets
Since 1950, "Die Schmiere" has been presenting a satirical, comedic, entertaining, and political program in the quaint Kloster-Keller.
The diverse songs poetically draw on the works of great Portuguese poets or speak from the heart in simple words. Fado has thus become the home of a folk mentality shaped by wanderlust, poverty, and inner richness. The fact that there are also many cheerful pieces is sometimes overlooked here. But so is the fact that saudade lies within each of us and possesses a sad beauty that we can awaken and share at “Uma noite de Fado.”
Tony Riga is the musical director of the Frankfurt Complaint Choir, a vocal coach at the Frankfurt Adult Education Center, and an active singer and radio host. With over 40 years of professional experience, Matthias Baumgardt is one of the most sought-after musicians in the Rhine-Main region. The rock and blues guitarist reveals a special side of himself.
