A house full of memories and four people who can’t escape them. “Liebesjahre” tells the story of Vera and Uli, who meet again after years apart. What connects them is not only a shared past, but a place where that past lives on in every detail. While Vera is determined to close this chapter once and for all, Uli arrives with his new partner. It quickly becomes clear: goodbyes cannot be planned.
Every room, every piece of furniture, every photograph becomes a trigger for memories: of hopes, of disappointments, of the slow drifting apart of two people. Amid unspoken accusations and tentative attempts at reconciliation, a struggle unfolds over guilt, responsibility, and the question of whether a fresh start is possible. The play’s particular power lies in its nuances—in what is left unsaid but remains palpable.

An intense chamber play that relies entirely on the power of human connection. Saskia Valencia portrays Vera with great clarity and inner tension—a woman who wants to convince herself that she let go long ago. Opposite her is Thorsten Nindel. His character, Uli, is no easy counterpart, but a man full of contradictions.
“Liebesjahre” is a haunting drama about the lingering effects of relationships and the fact that some bonds can never be fully severed. The story is based on the TV movie of the same name by Matti Geschonneck, whose screenplay won the Grimme Prize and the Golden Camera.
