The “Kino Kulinarisch” series by filmmaker Daniel Brettschneider presents the film “Ein fast perfekter Antrag” starring Iris Berben and Heiner Lauterbach
The eccentric widower Walter (getting better with every passing year: Heiner Lauterbach) spends his retirement testing out restaurants and meticulously reviewing them online. During one of his restaurant visits, he happens to run into his childhood sweetheart Alice (sigh: Iris Berben!) again. Forty years ago, he had proposed to her and failed spectacularly. The fun-loving and free-spirited art professor is still the exact opposite of the old-fashioned, meticulous Walter. The retired engineer’s ambition is piqued. He wants to do better this time, while Alice isn’t even considering it—she loves her independent life and doesn’t need the stress of a relationship. She sets one condition: only if he shows genuine interest in her world might he get a second chance. And so, to Alice’s horror, Walter—who has never been interested in art—enrolls as a guest student in her class, determined to prove to himself and to her that it’s never too late to break new ground. But it’s not just Alice who presents him with unexpected challenges—so does his encounter with his classmates, who are 40 years his junior. Unexpectedly, Alice and Walter find themselves in a new, exciting chapter of their lives and must ask themselves: Does old love really never fade? Does the food taste good? Can he cook? And just how well can these two great actors possibly harmonize on screen!?

The meal served with the film includes fried chicken, rose harissa, grape leaves, and yogurt for €17.50. A dessert for €5 each rounds out the movie night.
