Alte Oper Frankfurt

When it comes to Mozart and his piano concertos, there is currently hardly a more exciting collaboration than this one. The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and South African piano virtuoso Kristian Bezuidenhout are currently working on a complete CD recording that demonstrates: Mozart’s piano concertos—which we think we know so well—suddenly sound as if we’ve never heard them before, so radically musical and spirited, as if born in the moment. Bezuidenhout will also showcase the richly colorful sound of his fortepiano as a soloist during the concert. Also on the program: the Wind Serenade in C minor. Mozart called it a “Nacht Musique”—a work whose bittersweet charm is significantly intensified by the sound of period wind instruments.

Performers: Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, Kristian Bezuidenhout (conductor, fortepiano).

Program:
