"Céad mile fáilte" is Gaelic and means "a thousand welcomes"! The Celtic-German friendship association "the bogside e.V." has been active in Offenbach’s Nordend neighborhood for 25 years. At the “Day of the Legends,” the festivities kick off in front of the pub at 2:00 p.m. with live music by DJ Mike, Simple Turn, Frogs Corner, and Paddy Goes to Holyhead (at 7:30 p.m.). And with whiskey, Guinness, and Kilkenny, your taste buds will feel like they’ve taken a trip to the Emerald Isle.

Opened in 1999 as a gathering place for fans of Ireland and its music, the Bogside Irish Public House was on the verge of closing after two changes in ownership. A few loyal regulars refused to accept the impending loss of their pub and, in 2008, quickly founded an association to preserve the Bogside through their own dedication and financial contributions. Thanks to them, in addition to the bar being open four days a week, the pub continues to host regular events such as whiskey tastings, Irish breakfasts, quiz and karaoke nights, nostalgic vinyl nights, as well as St. Patrick’s Day and Halloween celebrations. The Bogside Irish Pub is regularly open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 7 p.m. to midnight, run by the association’s members.
