Jazz at the Palmengarten: Martin Lejeune “Mangelsdorff Revisited” – Music Pavilion at the Palmengarten – 2-for-1 Tickets
Since 1959, the “Jazz im Palmengarten” concert series has been held annually as an open-air event, organized by the Palmengarten in Frankfurt am Main. It is considered the world’s oldest continuously running open-air jazz concert series.
With this special concert, Martin Lejeune pays tribute to the musical legacy of Frankfurt jazz pioneer Albert Mangelsdorff. Together with a newly formed band, he explores what shaped the unmistakable artistic voice of one of Europe’s most significant jazz musicians.
Drawing on Mangelsdorff’s solo works, improvisations, and soundscapes, new musical perspectives emerge at the intersection of interpretation, composition, and spontaneous creation. The project will be presented at the Palmengarten—a venue closely linked to Mangelsdorff’s work and Frankfurt’s jazz history.
