The best poets from across the state will compete against each other in the grand annual finale of the Frankfurt Poetry Slam. Over the course of eleven months, they have fought their way into the finals with their texts and performances. Now the audience decides who will win the title and represent the Montez Slam at the Hessian Poetry Slam Championships.

In the city’s canyons, where skyscrapers touch the sky, a culture grows amid glass, concrete, and asphalt—one that is raw, vibrant, and unmistakable. The Montez Slam scratches at the facades and looks behind them—at stories, thoughts, and feelings. As a creative disruption between glossy perfection and everyday life, it connects people through language and shared experiences. If a sack of rice falls over somewhere in the world, it might inspire a poem. And probably a good one.

Every month, invited poetry slammers from all over Germany take the stage at what is arguably Frankfurt’s coziest poetry competition. With self-written texts, a maximum of six minutes, and no props, they present everything stage literature has to offer: the funny, the serious, the lyrical, or the prosaic. Provided the few competition rules are followed, there are virtually no limits to creativity. The audience takes on the role of the jury. It decides which poets advance to the finals and who ultimately wins the evening.
