Opera Classica

Opera lovers can look forward to a new production of Giuseppe Verdi's opera "La Traviata" in the historic castle ruins of Lindenfels. The Opera Classica Europa ensemble presents one of the most popular and most frequently performed operas in music history. The dramatic plot is set in Parisian society in the mid-19th century. At the center is the terminally ill noble courtesan Violetta Valéry, who has to sacrifice her great love for Alfredo Germont to social constraints and the moral concepts prevailing at the time.

The worldwide success story of this highly emotional work has continued unabated for more than 150 years and still thrills audiences today, especially with its many rousing melodies. Numerous well-known catchy tunes await the audience, including the popular drinking song "Libiamo ne' lieti calici" right at the beginning, which is rarely missing from a major gala concert, or "Sempre Libera", one of the most famous soprano arias of all. The second act includes the wonderful baritone aria "Di Provenza il mar, il suol" and, last but not least, the wistful farewell romance "Addio, del passato" by the seriously ill Violetta and the touching duet "Parigi, o cara, noi lasceremo" in the third act, when the long-separated lovers finally meet again.
International vocal soloists, together with the Opera Classica Europa choir and orchestra, transport the audience into the world of this very special opera and ensure an unforgettable experience in a romantic open-air atmosphere.
