Walter Smith III is still a real insider tip in Europe, yet he can already be heard on over 100 records. The saxophonist has played with most of the important jazz musicians of our time and is now stepping into the limelight himself. His melodious modern jazz clears the mind and directs the focus to the essentials. Darcy James Argue will rearrange Smith's pieces for the big band.

He is an award-winning saxophonist, composer and lecturer who has been signed to the legendary Blue Note label since 2023. His releases there include the albums "Return to Casual" and "Three of us are from Houston and Reuben is not", on which he collaborates with top musicians such as Jason Moran, Kendrick Scott and Ambrose Akinmusire. In addition to his own projects, he has played with artists such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Roy Haynes and Bilal and now teaches at Berklee College of Music.
