Alte Oper Frankfurt

It is still a young, but all the more beautiful tradition: shortly before the end of the season, great orchestral sound prepares a feast for the ears. The Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden does the honors on this occasion. Richard Wagner called the orchestra, which he himself presided over as court conductor in the 1840s, a "miracle harp" with sincere affection. Since then, the art-loving metropolis on the River Elbe has always been a source of great Wagnerian music. For the orchestra festival at the Alte Oper, the Dresdeners also focus on Wagner and at the same time bring him into a surprising field of tension: Camille Saint-Saëns and Claude Debussy were among the German Romantic composer's greatest admirers and harshest critics. The Sächsische Staatskapelle, its chief conductor Daniele Gatti and Gautier Capuçon dedicate themselves to these three sound magicians par excellence.

Afterwards, the audience is invited to enjoy a free drink - the Opéra restaurant and terrace are exceptionally open to the concert audience on this evening.
