The 17th edition of "Frankfurt Reads a Book" is dedicated to Marie Luise Kaschnitz's "Gott und die Welt. Notes from the Wiesenau". The impending storms of the student revolution of the 1960s and the extra-parliamentary oppositions that were soon to form are already present in the poet's thoughts. The starting point is an impending eviction from her apartment in Frankfurt's Westend district, an existential disquiet in which she experiences the city - and thus tells of the hardships of its inhabitants. And in which themes emerge that still and again concern us today: the future of work, the threat posed by technological developments, the changes in nature. Kaschnitz's life revolves around the changing Frankfurt, which fascinates and captivates her. She left behind her wonderfully illuminating notes, which - in the 125th year of the poet's birth - show readers a Frankfurt in which they are happy to be at home.

The Romanfabrik invites you to a musical reading at several venues - from the writer's apartment to the UNION grounds to the hall. Gabriele Graf lends expression and presence to texts by Marie Luise Kaschnitz, while Gregor Praml on double bass creates a multi-layered soundscape with loops and electronic effects. The literary-musical parcours leads through Kaschnitz's Frankfurt - about staying, doubts and being at home in change.
