"Has everyone gone mad?" When the real world overtakes satire, only operetta can help. For example, a turbulent romantic comedy and at the same time a military farce full of wit, poetry and topical cheekiness, with obvious references to our present day.

In Gerolstein, a dwarf state in the deepest province, things are going haywire. In order to keep the Grand Duchess away from the levers of power, the scheming court does not shy away from starting a war. The soldier Fritz makes a breathtaking career as the regent's favorite and cleverly reduces militarism and political megalomania to absurdity. This is how Karl Kraus described it: the operetta à la Jacques Offenbach is able to "solve the cramp of life with irresponsible hilarity".
