With Mirabelle, drummer and composer Thomas Sauerborn brings together five independent voices that form an unmistakable sound collective when they meet. The special instrumentation with two trombones significantly shapes the sound of the band. The proximity of the trombone to the human voice and the emotional nuances that arise from this give the music a touching depth.

Sauerborn's compositions are written explicitly for this ensemble. They usually arise from an intuitive melody, from which a harmonic and rhythmic context unfolds, in which individual structures interweave to form a dynamic whole. The result is music that opens up space for both narrative expression and playful freedom: a dialog between individuality and the collective.

The quintet is his latest formation - an open network of energy, precision and shared sound alchemy.
