On a black velvet-lined "peep-box stage" in the Velvets Theater Wiesbaden, black-clad actors guide puppets and other objects through a narrow alley of light. Only the objects hit by the spotlights are visible to the audience, while the actors remain hidden in the darkness. This allows the most amazing effects to be created, blurring the boundaries with reality and transporting the audience into a world of magic and illusion full of poetry and enchantment.

In the stage version of the opera "The Magic Flute" by W.A. Mozart, Prince Tamino loses his way while hunting in the realm of the Queen of the Night. When a snake threatens him deep in the forest, he is rescued by the queen - but not without ulterior motives: Sarastro, the priest of Isis, once abducted her daughter Pamina to remove her from her mother's evil influence. The queen promises Tamino the princess as her wife if he frees her from Sarastro's hands. To help him, he is given a magic flute and the jolly birdcatcher Papageno, complete with magical glockenspiel. When Tamino finally meets Sarastro, he learns that he is not a villain at all, but the high priest in the Temple of Wisdom. However, before the priest can release Princess Pamina, Tamino and Papageno must undergo three tests. But the Queen of the Night puts all kinds of obstacles in their way...

The story takes place in a completely fairytale world and is made for black theater! The interplay of actors with masks, puppets and pantomime creates a natural unity and playfully highlights the fairytale world of Mozart's most famous opera. For adults and children aged 8 and over.
