On a black velvet-lined "peep-box stage" in the Velvets Theater Wiesbaden, black-clad actors guide puppets and other objects through a narrow alley of light. Only the objects hit by the spotlights are visible to the audience, while the actors remain hidden in the darkness. This allows the most amazing effects to be created, blurring the boundaries with reality and transporting the audience into a world of magic and illusion full of poetry and enchantment.

Momo lives alone in an old amphitheater. She hardly owns any material things, but she has one thing in particular: time. She likes to share it with her friends Beppo and Gigi. Everyone likes Momo because she is an excellent listener. But one day everything changes: no one visits Momo anymore. She gets to the bottom of the matter and discovers the secret of the gray men from the Time Savings Bank, who steal people's life time and ensure that life becomes increasingly dull. To save her friends, Momo takes up the fight against the gray power with the help of the turtle Cassiopeia and Master Hora.

The problem of "time wasters" of all kinds is more relevant today than ever, "Momo" gives us food for thought to fill our limited time with meaning and life again.
