Siegfried's Nibelungenentzündung is a medieval jester's spectacle about the life and death of the blond warrior Siegfried von Xanten. It is based on the Song of the Nibelungs, a heroic epic written around 1200 AD from various legends, inflated with half-truths and "Teutonic" wishful thinking. The puppets are disrespectfully assembled from old kitchen utensils, tin cans, bicycle parts and all sorts of odds and ends. They are carried on long sticks like hellebores, ironically underlining the seemingly heroic content of the legend.
