This Berlin trio rightly bears its name "Insomnia Brass Band". No one is likely to bat an eye at their music, because Anke Lucks, Almut Schlichting and Christian Marien are the miniature version of a brass band. They transcend their compact size with a raw, exuberant sound that you would expect from a much larger ensemble. Juggling alternating roles between rhythm and melody, they traverse a beguiling landscape of free jazz, funk, punk rock and New Orleans brass band. Together they open up their own pieces in all directions, driven by a mixture of improvisational drive and perfectly interlocking grooves.

At this concert, the band will present their latest album "Crooked Alligator". Jazzpodium raves: "They also continue their tongue-in-cheek play with musical forms, clichés and styles, which has become their trademark: children's songs, dance school rumba or dancefloor groove - nothing is safe from them."
