Who is accompanying whom here? The organ with the singing or the choir with the organ? In the case of the long-established collaboration between Iveta Apkalna and the Latvija State Choir, the answer is as difficult to give as it is irrelevant. Because the joint program not only mixes classical organ literature and works by contemporary composers, but also the sound registers and sound sources impressively.

Exquisite Latvian choral tradition meets the playing of one of the world's leading organists in this concert, which leads from Byrd, Bach and Britten to the present day. Incidentally, the organist is very familiar with the instrument that awaits her in Frankfurt: Iveta Apkalna has regularly taken her place at the console of the large Schuke organ for a good ten years, including thrilling the audience at the Fratopia Festival in 2022 with a similarly "space-filling" choir organ project.
