What began at a friend's vernissage on May 1, 1992, developed into one of the most successful vocal performance projects in music history. Harald Bannoehr, Oliver Hartstack, Matthias Keller, Sebastian Rajkovic and Filipo Tiberia performed dressed in cut-off long johns, sang a cappella and beat a stool with a belt... The U-Bahn Kontrollöre toured in frozen women's clothing for 17 years afterwards.
The gentlemen have been officially retired since 2009. But sometimes, on very special occasions, they get a kick out of the stage and let it rip as if they had never been away. After all these years, the legendary Maya the Bee doll is pretty battered, but the joy of playing of the control choirs has not been scratched in the slightest, as old and new fans notice from the very first minute.
