Frankfurt Opera Festival 2026 – at Opernplatz – Two free rides on the carousel with free admission
Opernplatz, where businesspeople usually rush about and tourists and passersby stroll, is once again transforming into a little playground paradise. Because this marks the 33rd edition of “Kids Go First!” With the summer temperatures, the absolute highlights are, of course, the water features at the Lucae Fountain in front of the Alte Oper. Mini pedal boats are available there. At the Marshall Fountain, children can build different water courses using sewer pipes, connectors, buckets, and beverage crates. But that’s not all. Climbing enthusiasts can use their skills to scale the crate climbing structure and the climbing tower to watch the action from above. The electronically powered bull ride is also a huge hit; riders try to stay on as long as possible while the machine suddenly changes direction and speed. Bouncy cushions of various sizes are organized by age group so that children of all ages can test their jumping skills without interruption. Children can also jump on the bungee trampoline. Those who prefer creative activities can let their imaginations run wild with various materials in the creative corner and take home their handmade creations as souvenirs.

In addition, there are countless small play structures, ball games, mini-vehicles, and board games. Every day, up to 1,000 children enjoy a play program supervised by 35 educational staff members right in the heart of the city. Club President Michael Paris: “With this initiative, we want to promote intergenerational play and, furthermore, demonstrate that all locations in the city are suitable for children to play with one another and with adults, and that play situations can be created with minimal effort. We want a city where everyone can play!”
