Kultur in Bad Vilbel

The medieval moated castle, located in the heart of Bad Vilbel on the banks of the Nidda River, is once again offering a diverse program this season in a historic, rustic setting. Among the performances is the play "Rico, Oskar, and the Deep Shadows" by Andreas Steinhöfel:

Rico is deeply gifted, Oskar is highly gifted—together they’re an unbeatable team. When a child abductor strikes, the two are swept up in an exciting adventure full of mysteries, tests of courage, and true friendship. With humor, heart, and suspense, this play tells the story of two unusual heroes who show that being different is a strength. A heartwarming experience for children ages 6 and up.

At the heart of the story is a kidnapper (“Mister 2000”) who abducts children in Berlin. Addressing the danger posed by unfamiliar adults can trigger fear in some children, especially if they have already experienced feelings of insecurity in public spaces. However, the play frames the threat as part of an adventure and culminates in a resolution where the children remain in control and safety is restored. The danger of abduction and associated acts of violence are, in fact, a reality in children’s lives. This wonderfully lighthearted detective story provides the perfect opportunity to talk to children about this danger and give them practical tips on how to actively protect themselves from potentially dangerous situations.
