The COMOEDIA MUNDI Theatre & Music Festival once again offers a varied program in the theater tent on the banks of the Main this summer:
The Big Weill program was developed and performed in 2009 with the Metropolorchester under the direction of Peter Fulda and with the support of the cities of Fürth and Nuremberg. The effort of a 10-piece orchestra is too great for everyday theater and touring, but the program and the songs are too valuable to be left unperformed. The result is "Ein Weillchen verweilen - Hommage an Kurt Weill", a version reduced to singing, piano and recitation. Loes Snijders has a successful collaboration with Christian Jung on the piano that goes back to the early 90s. Loes Snijders and Ulrike Moeckel, who recites Kurt Weill's interludes, letters and biography together with Loes, have a long-standing friendship and collaboration in plays, music programs and seminars.
The German-French-English program tells of his time in Germany, where he fled to Paris to escape the Nazis and then emigrated to America; of his time in Paris and his success on Broadway. His luggage consisted solely of his musical training.
