As the birthplace of the world-famous Brothers Grimm, Hanau is dedicating the Brothers Grimm Festival to its most famous sons and their works for the 42nd time. But classics by other famous authors also find their way onto the theater stage here:

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: a musical prodigy whose talent and zest for life enchanted the world. But behind the glamor and joie de vivre lurks the dark side of fame. Antonio Salieri, a successful composer at the imperial court, sees his own life and work pale in comparison to Mozart's genius. Driven by admiration, but at the same time consumed by jealousy, Salieri begins a game of intrigue and manipulation that not only threatens the young Mozart's life, but also tests his own soul.

Peter Shaffer's drama "Amadeus" is a gripping portrayal of the conflict between genius and mediocrity, between envy and admiration, between ambition and moral conscience. Sometimes envy is deadlier than hate. The play Amadeus promises to be a captivating theatrical experience that takes us into the depths of human passion, ambition and obsession.
