Brüder Grimm Festspiele Hanau

As the birthplace of the world-famous Brothers Grimm, Hanau is dedicating the Brothers Grimm Festival to its most famous sons and their works for the 42nd time.

Emperor Frederick, a vain ruler whose whole world consists of splendor and magnificent robes, Wilhelm, an adventurer who wants to uncover his deceased father's incomplete past, and Princess Rosalie, who reluctantly gets to know life beyond etiquette and duty - their paths cross in a story in which nothing is as it seems. And then there is the mysterious invisible robe, which supposedly can only be seen by the clever and capable. Who dares to speak the truth aloud? And who prefers to keep their mouth shut?

In the new interpretation by Nina Pichler and Dieter Gring, Hans Christian Andersen's classic "The Emperor's New Clothes" becomes a rousing family play full of humor, surprises and depth. The production playfully questions power, truth and the search for identity and invites young and old to reflect on appearance and reality.
