Eva Herbergen, a dedicated criminal defense lawyer, wants to slowly retire from her work and enjoy old age with her husband Peter. But the dark shadows of her cases extend into her private life. In her book "Feine Risse" (S. Fischer), Elisa Hoven illuminates legal and biographical dark zones in gripping tableaux: Certainty is an illusion, a judgment always remains only an approximation of the truth. Following on from its predecessor, Dunkle Momente (2025), Feine Risse also leads us into the thicket of coincidences in the origins of crimes. The causes are often hidden deep in a past history - and are sometimes so close that they are all the easier to overlook.

Elisa Hoven reads from her novel and talks to Heike Borufka (hr court reporter) about new cases between law and justice, between guilt and concealment, truth and lies.
