Christmas time! There's a festive rush everywhere, but Rosmarie and John are frustrated: she can't find any presents, he's fighting over the festive food in the department store. When they meet by chance, they recognize their respective childhood sweethearts. The fire is still smouldering, but once again neither of them dares to take the decisive step. Then a young man suddenly appears on Rosmarie's doorstep claiming to be her son, even though she was never pregnant. When John shows up and wants to know why she never told him about the "son", they are both astonished because the stranger knows intimate details.
