Kultur in Bad Vilbel

The Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie presents a concert evening with works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Carl Maria von Weber and Antonín Dvorák. The program opens with Beethoven's Coriolan Overture, a concentrated dramatic character piece from the Viennese Classical period that marks the transition to early Romanticism. This is followed by Weber's Clarinet Concerto No. 1 in F minor, one of the central works of the Romantic clarinet literature, which exemplifies the soloistic and tonal possibilities of the instrument. The program concludes with Dvorák's Eighth Symphony, one of the most popular symphonic works of the late 19th century with its melodic variety and proximity to Bohemian folk music.

The musical director is Michel Tilkin, who can look back on an international career as a conductor and has worked with numerous orchestras in Europe and Asia. The soloist is clarinettist Roeland Hendrikx, who has made a name for himself both as a soloist with leading orchestras and as a chamber musician and teacher. His close relationship with the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie is documented in joint recordings of works by Carl Maria von Weber, among others.

The Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie can look back on a history of over 350 years and is one of the most traditional orchestras in Rhineland-Palatinate. In addition to its intensive concert activities, it plays a key role in shaping the musical life of the region and the productions of the Koblenz Theater.
