Anyone who invites the Finnish conductor Dalia Stasevska gets beaming faces in both the orchestra and the audience. And a concert program that never comes off the peg - as is the case here: Maurice Ravel meets Witold Lutoslawski. Ravel is heard with "La Valse" - an intoxicating, dark swan song to the Viennese waltz and his jazz-influenced Piano Concerto in G major, characterized by the pulsating spirit of the 1930s.
At the piano: Bertrand Chamayou, a proven Ravel interpreter who sees the music as a "great, ingenious improvisation". An energetic concert between elegance, modernity and tonal intensity.
