Eberbach Monastery - in Eltville in the Rheingau - 2for1 on the entrance fee
Founded in 1136, Eberbach Abbey with its Romanesque and early Gothic buildings is one of the greatest cultural monuments of monastic architecture and is also considered the best-preserved medieval monastery complex in Europe. The current appearance of the former Cistercian abbey is still characterized by the centuries-old wine-growing tradition, which is preserved in close cooperation with the Eberbach Monastery Winery. The protection and preservation of this outstanding cultural monument has been the core task of the non-profit Eberbach Monastery Foundation since 1998.
Year after year, hundreds of thousands of visitors experience the hospitality at one of Europe's most popular excursion destinations - in keeping with the Cistercian motto "Porta patet, cor magis - Our door is open, our heart even more so!". Here, visitors can learn interesting facts about the history of the former Cistercian abbey, the life of the monks and the history of viticulture in Eberbach.
The current "FLASHBACK" exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the colorful world of bricks. 1,780 LEGO® models from the Harry Potter™, Technic, Architecture, Friends and City ranges can be admired on over 500 square meters in Eberbach Monastery from 15 February 2025 to 11 January 2026. Elaborate space scenarios bring the Star Wars™ films to life with LEGO® worlds. They come from one of the largest private collections in Germany and visitors can transport themselves into space with the help of virtual hands-on stations. Fans young and old can not only look at the colorful bricks in the exhibition, a "building corner" invites them to play and create their own worlds. Selfie walls allow visitors to become LEGO® stars themselves. The team's concept is spectacularly complemented by a 5x5 meter model of the monastery.
