Die Dramatische Bühne

The perfumer's apprentice Valnouille, blessed with a sense of smell that has been refined a thousand times over, is apprenticed to the ageing Maitre Valdiani and dreams of creating the perfect perfume whose scent will make him a god. In order to obtain the ingredients, he murders innocent young maidens at night and extracts the precious ingredients from them. But in order to obtain the last, the 13th essence, he would have to kill Madame Valorette, the only being he has ever loved...

The Dramatische Bühne is an independent theater in Frankfurt am Main with a permanent ensemble. Its artistic work focuses on adaptations of classic material such as "Hamlet", "Cyrano de Bergerac", "Romeo and Juliet" etc., each of which is presented in a special way with plenty of comedy, tempo, music, singing and artistry. The vision of the theater is a revival of the ludicrous, foolhardy theatrical dream that has hardly been dreamed of since Shakespeare's time: Stories full of silliness and profundity at the same time, rich in costume, scenery and (lazy) theatrical magic, the splendor and wretchedness of comedy and sleaze theater, entirely based on text and actors and not on time-bound arbitrary interpretation, lovably old-fashioned, hackneyed and glorious at the same time. The audience is just as mixed as the plays: Punks and bankers, teenagers alongside pensioners, who simply join in the excitement and dreaming even without an explanatory volume in their pockets.
