Matto Barfuss: 30 wild years for diversity - Multivision at the Bürgerhäuser Dreieich - 2for1-Tickets
The large-scale multimedia production "AFRICA - 30 wild years for diversity" by photographer and wildlife filmmaker Matto Barfuss reports on life in the African bush and is also an emotional plea for the protection of species on our planet. Matto Barfuss has been traveling in Africa for over 30 years. He has lived with wild cheetahs, among mountain gorillas and documented prides of lions and families of meerkats.
We are in the midst of the greatest biodiversity crisis our planet has ever experienced. We are losing around 150 species every day. With every species lost, the risk of pandemics with far-reaching consequences increases. We are increasingly aware that the loss of diversity is also contributing to global warming due to complex interactions. At the same time, global warming is already responsible for 11 to 16 percent of species loss. It seems as if we are in a downward spiral from which there is no escape. Can we be positive in the face of this? "A positive multivision for this very reason!" is the motto of artist and species conservation activist Matto Barfuss. "I was inspired by the topic and have been traveling through Africa for 32 years," says Matto. "Our planet is so beautiful that it simply motivated me immensely to at least try to reverse the trend." The activist sees a great opportunity in the implementation of the exciting topic of "biodiversity credits" in particular. For the activist Barfuss, 30 wild years for diversity in Africa were ultimately a kind of "trial and error" along much of the way.
