Doctor Faustus, who has pledged his soul to the devil for the price of knowledge, makes his way through the entire circle of the earth, from the deepest pit of hell up to the stars, through all the abysses of human passions, until he finally believes he has satisfied his longing in the child of the gods, Gretchen. But even out of the most intimate love, only the evil demon Mephisto laughs at him, not forgetting to collect his price.
Part medieval, highly shocking mystery play about the poor sinner Doctor Faustus and part drama about the fate of modern man, who seeks his way to happiness between God and the devil.

The Dramatische Bühne is an independent theater in Frankfurt am Main with a permanent ensemble. Its artistic work focuses on adaptations of classical material such as "Hamlet", "Cyrano de Bergerac", "Romeo and Juliet" etc., each of which is presented in a special way with plenty of comedy, tempo, music, singing and artistry. The vision of the theater is a revival of the ludicrous, foolhardy theatrical dream that has hardly been dreamed of since Shakespeare's time: Stories full of silliness and profundity at the same time, rich in costume, scenery and (lazy) theatrical magic, the splendor and wretchedness of comedy and sleaze theater, entirely based on text and actors and not on time-bound arbitrary interpretation, lovably old-fashioned, hackneyed and glorious at the same time. The audience is just as mixed as the plays: Punks and bankers, teenagers alongside pensioners, who simply join in the excitement and dreaming even without an explanatory volume in their pockets.
