The monthly 30-minute organ matinées at lunchtime in the Imperial Cathedral have become a firm fixture in Frankfurt's musical calendar. Organist Bernhard Leonardy plays on the cathedral organ with its 116 stops and around 9000 pipes, making it the largest organ system in Hesse. The program includes works by Lili Boulanger, Cécile Chaminade and Clara Schumann. In addition to his work as cantor of the Basilica of St. Johann in Saarbrücken, Bernhard Leonardy is internationally active as a concert organist and conductor and works as an organ expert. He is artistic director of the international organ music festival "Orgues sans frontières - Organ without Borders" and director of the Vokalensemble '83.
