Apple hike with organic snacks - Obsthof am Steinberg, Frankfurt Nieder-Erlenbach - 2for1 tickets
Apple growing has a long tradition at Schneiders, dating back to the time of the great-grandfather. The diversity and different flavors of the organic apples are reflected in 9,000 fruit trees with 150 apple varieties - all organically grown. The focus is on historical varieties, some of which are threatened with extinction, with a wide variety of flavors.
After a welcome drink or, alternatively, apple juice, the apple hike begins. The trail leads through orchards with a view of the Frankfurt skyline to selected apple trees. Historical apple varieties, some of which are threatened with extinction, are tasted directly from the tree - almost like paradise. Depending on the season and ripeness of the fruit, the range of varieties can also be larger. A fruity apple cider or fruit juice is also available for tasting. The history of the apple is vividly presented, as is the philosophy behind cider and the basics of organic farming. The hike covers 2.5 kilometers and takes around 2.5 hours including the welcome, tasting and presentation. Afterwards, there is a stop at the Schoppenwirtschaft.
The price includes a glass of "Haussschoppen" or apple juice as a welcome drink and an apple cider or juice during the hike. In addition, at least 7 apple varieties are available for tasting. The organic snack includes: 1 bratwurst (mixed pork/beef sausage) or vegan tempeh with homemade potato salad or 1 large hand cheese, bread and butter. Served with 1 glass of house wine, apple juice or water. Subject to change without notice!
Punctual arrival is requested. Please wear sturdy shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. The events take place in all weathers; if the weather is too bad, the moderated tasting will take place indoors. The hike is not barrier-free.
