The musical "Sissi - closer than ever" offers a new approach to the character of Sissi by delving deep into her inner life. The dramaturgical trick of an otherworldly encounter between Sissi, her murderer Luigi Lucheni and Emperor Franz Joseph brings her complex emotional world to life: Sissi's longing for freedom, her inner conflict as empress and her unfulfilled desires become intensely palpable. The stiff Viennese court and Franz Joseph's strictness place an additional burden on her. In the afterlife, the tragic intertwining of their fates is negotiated. Light projections and specially recorded music create a captivating production that combines music, drama and scenery into a fascinating whole.
