19th Interceltic Folk Festival: Lotos Lab - Church of St. Peter & Paul, Hofheim - 2for1-tickets
The 19th Interceltic Folk Festival conjures up a variety on Hofheim's stages that leaves nothing to be desired: Concerts ranging from folk to modern, torchlight processions at night, the sound of the harp and bagpipes, medieval and Irish dances as well as sessions where everyone is welcome to bring their instrument to life. As an integral part of Hofheim's district town summer, the Interceltic Folk Festival has been creatively connecting various cultural and social hubs in the district town since 2007.
The opening concert with Lotos Lab is dedicated to a gigantic time span of 40,000 years. Archaeologists have explored antiquity visually, Lotos Lab explores it musically. Barnaby Brown and Stef Conner present this absolutely fascinating program, which begins with the earliest musical traditions. The instruments used include the ancient Greek lyre,
the ancient aulos, the Roman kithara, the triplepipes (similar to the Sardinian launeddas) and the Scottish Great Highland Bagpipe. Music from the Stone Age, from the Sumerians, Egyptians, Greeks - all the way to the Celts make this unique concert the perfect opening to this year's Interceltic Folk Festival.
