The legendary life story of Dr. Johann Faust. In every century in which the material has been interpreted in literary, dramatic, musical and cinematic ways, it has retained its unbreakable topicality. The constant drive of the modern world, acceleration, the compulsion for constant self-optimization, more mindfulness, more climate protection, the church in a deep crisis. The character of Faust would be just as unhappy in the 21st century as he was in his own time - a criticism of the "non-development" of society?

To the scholar Heinrich Faust, "the accursed here and now" seems worthless. Driven by an insatiable desire, he wants to expand the boundaries of teaching and science, indeed of his own self and the world, to overcome fantasy and reality, to suspend time, to put mind and body into a frenzy. He enters into a wager with the devil ("Will I say to the moment: Linger! You are so beautiful! Then you may put me in fetters, then I will gladly perish!"). Driven by a thirst for knowledge, pleasure and insatiable desire, he plunges into a devilish witch's ride, a journey into human abysses. Faster, further, bigger, more. At the end of the journey into the "small world" (Faust 1), Faust's underage lover Gretchen and her child are dead, and the world formula has not been found.
The driven Faust is also restless in the big world. In the end, he wants nothing less than to domesticate mankind, gain land and conquer the sea. It's all about power and property, tradition and vision, technology and nature, destruction and renewal. About revolution, industrialization and colonization, the subjugation of man and landscape.
