The Skladanowsky Brothers - Film & Music at the Alte Oper - 2for1-Tickets
In 1895, just a few weeks before the Lumière brothers launched their cinématograph in France, the Skladanowsky brothers were already showing their first films on the Bioscop they had developed in Berlin. 100 years later, Wim Wenders and graduates of the University of Television and Film Munich commemorated the birth of cinema and created a tribute to the two pioneers of film history with "The Skladanowsky Brothers". The film begins in 1895 and ends in the present day, 1996, with Max Skladanowsky's daughter Lucie, who still has fond memories of her father and the early days of cinema. It was shot mainly on an old hand-crank camera from the 1920s, as a movie in the best slapstick style.
Laurent Petitgand, who wrote the music for ten of Wenders' films, accompanies the film, which has been restored in 4K, live on electric piano, saxophone, harmonica and guitar.
