Walter Renneisen Gastspiele

The soon-to-be 86-year-old Grimme Prize winner Walter Renneisen brings a brilliant program to the stage for UNESCO World Mother Tongue Day. At the center: Frankfurterisch, that lovely, lasciviously seductive dialect. Then the Frankfurter himself and his merciless humor: "Our youngest is left-handed." - "My husband aach, uff alle zwaa Seite".
His self-awareness: "Without brains, it's like bleed".
His wisdom "Before I get angry, I'd rather not care!"
Frankfurt writers have their say: Friedrich Stolze, Robert Gernhardt, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (did Goethe speak Hessian?). Tribal differences are also discussed. The man from Sachsenhausen looks out over the Main and says to his wife: "I don't want to live in Frankfurt!"

Then there's the barrelhouse jazz band! The figurehead of German jazz since 1953, celebrated in 58 countries on five continents. Their sound is pure vitality, modern swing - with local roots, power and soul. As if that wasn't enough, Renneisen herself picks up the trumpet, guitar or double bass, plays the piano, even on a real cow horn and a tenor recorder. A furious mixture! An evening that should not only delight Hesse - but also all those who love language, jazz and have a sense of humor. Regional is often the most universal.
