25 years - people like to say: that's almost half a human life. In the Bach Year 2000, Daniel Müller-Schott recorded the six cello suites on CD for the first time. The reviews at the time were consistently positive; among other things, one could read: "With a slender tone, thoughtful phrasing and an unconditional will to create, Müller-Schott cleverly maintains the balance between anachronistic pathos and historicizing fashion."

25 years do a lot to an artist, perhaps not changing them, but deepening their knowledge and skills. Bach's music has always been at the center of his work, and he says: "There is this great contrast in the cello suites: this visionary freedom of the music on the one hand and the strict mathematical order on the other are actually contradictory - and somehow not. The music brings them together. I have experienced time and again when I play Bach's solo suites that even people who have never heard of classical music are incredibly moved. That's one of the great secrets of Bach's music: it reaches people!" Always at Daniel Müller-Schott's side is his cello; he plays the "Ex Shapiro" Matteo Goffriller cello, made in Venice in 1727.
