On the occasion of the 500th concert of the Frankfurt Cathedral Concerts, Ludwig van Beethoven's "Missa solemnis" will be performed by the Vocalensemble Frankfurter Kaiserdom under the direction of Andreas Boltz. In the extremely complex, challenging and demanding score, Beethoven's entire musical ability unfolds, combined with a deep spiritual and human dimension in the "request for inner and outer peace" and the accompanying wish "From the heart - may it again - go to the heart". Beyond the conventions of its genre, the "Missa solemnis" allows the spheres of the heavenly, the earthly and the effect of the almighty God on the human individual to be experienced directly. The choir, orchestra and soloists perform at a pitch of 430 Hz in accordance with the classical tradition. The members of the orchestra play on instruments from the classical period in order to come as close as possible to the sound of the time.

An introductory event for the two anniversary concerts of the Frankfurt Cathedral Concerts will take place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 7.30 pm in the Haus am Dom (Domplatz 3). Cathedral music director Andreas Boltz and Dr. Stefan Scholz, Rabanus Maurus Catholic Academy, will give an introductory lecture on Beethoven's monumental "Missa Solemnis" on the topic of "Dona nobis pacem, longing for peace - unsatisfied". Admission to the lecture at Haus am Dom is free.
