Richard Galliano began piano and accordion lessons at the age of 4 with his father, an accordionist and teacher. He was soon accepted at the Nice Conservatory, where he studied harmony and trombone. In 1975, he moved to Paris and met Claude Nougaro, with whom he worked until 1983, creating many songs that are part of the heritage of French song. In 1980, he met Astor Piazzolla, who inspired him to create the "New Musette". Galliano has recorded more than 50 albums and collaborated with artists such as Chet Baker, Wynton Marsalis, Juliette Greco, Nigel Kennedy and Barbara. He has performed in famous concert halls around the world and received numerous awards, including the "Victoire de la Musique Jazz" in 1997 and the "SACEM Prize for Best Educational Work" in 2010. In 2014, he was honored with the "Victoire de la Musique Classique" and the title "Best Composer of the Year".
