The concert is being held in memory of the wonderful opera singer Romana Vaccaro, who sang the roles of "Angelina" in "La Cenerentola", "Santuzza" in "Cavalleria Rusticana!", "Tosca" and "Aida" in the operas of the same name during the course of her career. This demonstrates Romana Vaccaro's versatility as a singer, who switched to dramatic soprano roles with great success as a mezzo-soprano. In 1996, the young Romana sang the role of "Angelina" in Rossini's "La Cenerentola" (The Cinderella) at the Frankfurt Chamber Opera. Romana had already sung this role, which was typically written for a coloratura mezzo-soprano, in her earlier career when she sang exclusively mezzo-soprano roles.

Such a range from "La Cenerentola" to "Aida" underlines the unique vocal development and ability of opera singer Romana Vaccaro to present such a diverse repertoire - from the florid, agile demands of Rossini's "Angelina" to the dramatic and powerful roles in Verdi's "Aida" - on stage.
