Internationales Theater Frankfurt

The German-Japanese project KAN Compassion Arts brings together literary reflections on the Second World War by German poets such as Erich Kästner and Joachim Ringelnatz with musical settings by contemporary Japanese composers. KAN Compassion Arts unfolds a fan of music, song, images and stories from two different cultures that had similar experiences after the war as former allies. They reacted in the same way and yet differently. They searched for their responsibility, but also to escape it, be it with black humor or a journey into fairy-tale worlds.

Rainer Wolf tells the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood a little differently. A Japanese wolf is not quite in control of the situation. Sung by Yasuko Kozaki in Japanese. Rainer Wolf helps the audience along and tells the story in German. How do you deal with the evil wolf? With his setting of Kästner's poem "The Synthetic Man", Cornelis Witthoefft anticipates the future of our present.
