Opera Classica Europa is giving a guest performance of Franz Lehár's operetta "The Land of Smiles" at the Kurhaus Bad Schwalbach. Visitors can look forward to a classical production with well-known international vocal soloists, a large choir and a renowned orchestra. Last but not least, contemporary historical costumes and colorful lighting ensure an impressive operetta experience.

The world premiere of Lehár's masterpiece in Berlin in 1929 was a resounding success. Many of the melodies from this wonderful operetta are still popular with audiences today. Although, unlike many other operettas, "Das Land des Lächelns" has a rather melancholy undertone and the lovers do not even have a happy ending at the end, its success story has continued unabated to this day. The work owes its great popularity in particular to a song that was inextricably linked with Richard Tauber, one of the most famous tenors of his time. The popular singer was adored like a pop star and sang his way into the hearts of countless people with "Dein ist mein ganzes Herz" in the role of Prince Sou-Chong.
