Whether Andreas Scholl or DJ Hell, Olga Neuwirth or Peter Plate, they are all united by their enthusiasm for a singer and performance artist whose influence is still present forty years after his early death from AIDS, despite his small oeuvre of two albums released during his lifetime and a few television appearances: Klaus Nomi.

His voice, his self-stylization and his eventful life story inspired author Monika Hempel to go in search of traces, talk to friends and companions and search through archives and Nomi's personal estate. In Klaus Nomi - Stimme im Orbit (published by Andreas Reiffer), she tells the extraordinary life story of the singer born Klaus Sperber and sheds light on why his voice still speaks to us after countless revolutions in orbit.

Nomi is no longer alive, but his music, especially his interpretation of pieces such as the "Cold Song" based on Henry Purcell's "King Arthur", is unforgotten. This evening will also feature unusual interpretations of his music by singer/actress Bernadette Schäfer and Gregor Praml on double bass. Moderation: Isabella Caldart.
