A perfect technique is definitely not enough. As an artist, it is important to broaden your horizons, says Roman Borisov: looking at art, reading books, going to the theater, being inspired. He is grateful that he was able to think outside the box during his studies, that psychology, philosophy, history and languages were also part of the curriculum at his university. His broad horizons and differentiated view of things are evident in his subtle playing. In his first appearance at the Alte Oper, he proves that he has his pianistic roots in the traditional Russian school with powerful and virtuoso works by compatriot Sergei Rachmaninov.
