No Christmas without a Christmas oratorio. Many music lovers feel the same way. "Jauchzet, frohlocket", "Ehre sei dir, Gott, gesungen" and "Ich steh' an deiner Krippen hier" - even then, Bach struck a joyful, timeless note. Festive attunement, magnificent arias here and quiet reflection on the Christmas mystery there, structured and reinforced by the popular chorale verses. This year, the Frankfurt Singakademie is devoting itself to cantatas 4, 5 and 6, which deal with the naming of Jesus and the visit of the three wise men from the East to the manger in Bethlehem. However, the magnificent opening of the Christmas Oratorio with the 1st cantata should not be missed.

The singers are Yeree Suh, Charlotte Quadt, Martin Höhler, Sebastian Kohlhepp, Matthias Lika and the Frankfurt Singakademie under the direction of Jan Schumacher.
